Core Job Responsibilities
1. Formulation & Dispersion Characterization
• Assist in preparing graphene inks and dispersions.
• Characterize using:
o DLS/SEM for particle size
o Zetasizer for zeta potential
o Rotational viscometer for viscosity
o Drop shape analyzer for surface tension
• Maintain logs and monitor formula consistency.
2. Electrical & Visual Characterization
• Test printed graphene films for:
o Sheet resistance (4-point probe or multimeter)
o Surface uniformity via Microscopy (optical, SEM)
o Film thickness using profilometry or stylus scan
• Maintain logs and monitor fabrication consistency.
3. Surface Free Energy & Wettability
• Measure contact angles and calculate surface free energy.
• Log measurements and maintain surface characterization database.
4. Data Collection & Reporting
• Maintain accurate lab records and data logs.
• Summarize fundings in clear presentations and technical reports.
Qualifications
Education:
• Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate, Graduate or PhD program in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field at the University of Florida.
Preferred Skills:
• Technical Interest: Demonstrated passion for nanomaterials, especially graphene, and their applications.
• Laboratory Experience: Familiarity with particle sizing (e.g., DLS), rheological testing, and basic chemical/analytical techniques.
• Analytical Abilities: Competence in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
• Organizational Skills: Very high attention to detail in lab work, record-keeping, and inventory management.
• Teamwork & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior scientific lab research experience in nanomaterials or ink formulation.
• Experience with surface science techniques (contact angle, surface tension, surface free energy) or basic rheology.
• Knowledge of safety and chemical handling protocols.
Career Path
Top performers will gain hands-on experience in advanced materials research, with potential pathways into R&D, Quality Control, or further academic work in nanotechnology.
This on-site role is based at The Hub (747 SW 2nd Ave, Gainesville, FL). Join our lab team to explore graphene-based nanomaterials for diagnostic innovation. Apply by sending your resume to: humancapital@identifysensors.com.
