**This position has approved grant-funding through August 31, 2025, and is pending approval for further funding. Continuation beyond this date is contingent upon that approval.

The mission of the Student Support Services STEM (STEM3S) program is to equip students with tools to achieve persistence, graduation, and life-long learning while cultivating scholars holistically and fostering community. STEM3S is one of the Federal TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is designed to help STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) students achieve success at Santa Fe College, specifically by providing support services that will help eligible students progress academically throughout college. STEM3S’s goal is to identify, select, enroll, retain, serve, and assist students who are from low-income families, from families where neither parent has a bachelor’s degree, and/or who are students with disabilities.

The Coordinator for STEM3S is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the STEM3S program and will create and maintain systems to ensure that eligible TRIO participants in pre-collegiate programs are seamlessly connected to STEM3S to increase persistence, good academic standing, graduation, and transfer rates among the program’s target population. STEM3S provides an array of services and activities such as tutoring, personal counseling, financial support and literacy, transfer assistance, coaching, career services, grant aid, as well as study skills development. The Coordinator is responsible for the programmatic, operational, and fiscal management of STEM3S and is accountable for the project’s success.

 

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Ensures that the STEM3S program is implemented in full compliance with the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008, the SSS Program regulations, the Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR), and all other applicable federal regulations and requirements.

  • Manages implementation of the project's activities, goals, and objectives as outlined in the grant-funded proposal, federal regulations/guidelines, and Santa Fe College polices and priorities.

  • Effectively manages STEM3S program budget as approved by the Department of Education and the college external fund manager, monitors, and reviews expenditures monthly, and prepares a detailed annual budget.

  • Oversees and assists with the maintenance and monitoring of recordkeeping to ensure an efficient system that facilitates participant identification and selection as well as tracking services to students.

  • Evaluates program processes and procedures; plans, develops, and presents recommendations regarding technical methods and techniques of program administration.

  • Supervises STEM3S staff including student assistants, Academic Coaches, and Peer Tutors.

  • Conducts staff development training and in-service training for faculty, administrative, and student groups to facilitate recruitment and retention efforts.

  • Maintains communication with SF grant office, grant accounting office, and the Federal Department of Education.

  • Collaborates with Financial Aid to determine and distribute grant aid funds to qualified SSS students.

  • Uses strategic planning and continuous improvement models to facilitate program evaluation and reporting.

  • Oversees and assists with the evaluation process, handles the annual performance review/report and consultant visits.

  • Establishes an effective organizational structure with sound policies and procedures.

  • Creates and maintains a STEM3S implementation manual and implements systemic plan for data collection.

  • Participates in college-related committees, providing service to the College as required.

  • Has the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends when required.

  • Complies with all published College Rules, procedures, guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees, including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Reports to: Director, TRIO and CAP Programs

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: A master’s degree in a STEM field, education, administration, psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field or a bachelor’s degree in the previously stated disciplines with two (2) years of related work experience. Additionally, a candidate must have at least *three (3) years of experience in designing, managing, or implementing SSS STEM, TRIO, or similar programs that serve underrepresented groups. *years of experience is required by the grant.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted. Applicants must have a valid Florida Class E Operator (driver’s) license and be authorized to drive for the college; must have the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. An employment offer is contingent upon the approval by the Federal Department of Education TRIO Program Specialist.

Preferred: Experience in communication with grantor agencies, especially at the Federal level, and in providing required reports. Knowledge of STEM fields. Demonstrated success in overcoming barriers similar to those of the project’s target population or experience in working with this population.
