Position Summary:
The Shelter Housing Supervisor is a management role that balances direct service with supervision and administration. You’ll oversee a team of Housing Specialists, ensuring their work aligns with evidence-based practices like trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing. At the same time, you’ll maintain a small caseload, offering direct case management to shelter guests.
This role is essential in developing and refining systems that support consistent, value-driven service delivery, while ensuring compliance with grant requirements and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
The Shelter Housing Supervisor is a management role that balances direct service with supervision and administration. You’ll oversee a team of Housing Specialists, ensuring their work aligns with evidence-based practices like trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing. At the same time, you’ll maintain a small caseload, offering direct case management to shelter guests.
This role is essential in developing and refining systems that support consistent, value-driven service delivery, while ensuring compliance with grant requirements and data integrity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and consistently work with Housing Specialists to ensure they are following a progress based length of stay model of case management using best practices such as motivational interviewing and trauma informed care.
- Ensure processes of developing service plans and goals are clearly laid out, properly documented, and communicated to both guests and staff.
- Conduct weekly team meetings to review the goals and progress of shelter guests.
- Conduct regular chart reviews to ensure guest profiles are complete, with current assessments and program entries, and collaborate with Housing Specialists to address any documentation gaps.
- Assess the need for disciplinary action of Housing Specialists and bring these concerns to the attention of the VP of housing in writing to ensure they are addressed.
- Provide case management services in the area of, but not limited to: money management, employment, linkage to community providers for problematic substance use, primary and mental health care, and all other services needed to assist participants in reaching their housing goals.
- Mediate and advocate on behalf of the participant to help them obtain housing, health care benefits and entitlements.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience in homeless services or social work/case management preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in G-Suite, HMIS, and Slack.
- Professional demeanor and commitment to ethical, respectful interaction.
Physical Demands:
This position involves light physical activity: the ability to walk moderate distances, sit for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
