DESCRIPTION:Topic: Transportation & Economic Development\n\nAlachua County is hosting and facilitating a series of community workshops in September to hear public input on the Envision Alachua Sector Plan\, which was submitted by Plum Creek at the end of 2013. Participation and involvement from the local business community is needed and critical to the outcomes of the workshops and the plan itself.\n\nThe Envision Alachua Sector Plan   a 50-year\, 60\,000-acre plan for land owned by Plum Creek in East Alachua County   includes a major focus on job creation and economic progress by building on our strengths\, providing the high quality environment needed to attract desired employers\, supporting expansion of established businesses\, and keeping top talent in the community. \n\nIn addition\, Envision Alachua will:\n\n	Accommodate approximately 30\,000 potential jobs over 50 years in eastern Alachua County\, where the employment need is the greatest.\n	Attract advanced manufacturing and agricultural related jobs\, many of which require only a high school diploma or some specific training\, to help overcome jobs competition that residents face with college students.\n	Assist to increase the tax base\, and allow for the services and recreation opportunities close by that support a vibrant community.\n	Enable Alachua County\, the University of Florida and Santa Fe College and the region to compete in the state\, national and global economies.
