Event Description:
Fans in Gainesville will have a chance to show their school spirit in the annual "What Colors Do You Bleed?" blood drive challenge.
The contest pits the blood donors in Gainesville and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers against the blood donors in Knoxville and Medic Regional Blood Center, September 22-26. Whichever team draws the most donors earns bragging rights for the year.
Blood donors can participate at either LifeSouth donor centers in Gainesville, 1221 NW 13th St. or 4039 Newberry Road, and at all on-campus blood drives during the week of September 22-26. Blood donors will receive a special Gator t-shirt and a $5 gift card from Sweetberries Eatery and Frozen Custard. LifeSouth is the sole supplier of blood products to the hospitals in Gainesville, including UF Health.
Anyone 17 or older (16 with parental permission), weighing a minimum of 110 pounds and in good health is eligible to donate. A photo ID is also required. Call (352) 334-1000 for more information or visit LifeSouth at www.lifesouth.org.
